MT. NANDAGHUNTI 6309 mt.

It lies on the Outer Rim of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary. It was first surveyed by TG Longstaff in 1907. Eric Shipton surveyed it from West in 1931. First serious attempt was made by BP Goodfellow J Buz (UK), in 1944. Finally a Swiss team under André Roch made the first ascent in 1947 through East Ridge.

The first Indian Summit was made in 1960. This expedition was organized by Himalayan Institute (Later named Himalayan Association) of Kolkata under the leadership of Sukumar Roy and patronised by Ashok Sarkar of The Anandabazar Patrika. The approach was made through East Ridge and the Summit was reached on October 22, 1960. Summiters were Sukumar Roy and Nima Tashi. Other team members were Dilip Banerjee, Nimai Bose, Dhruba Majumder, Bishwadeb, Pemba Norbu and others.

Subsequent successful expeditions were conducted in 1977, 1980. 2005Martin Moren. 2008Metro rly kolkata.
Chandannager Mountaineering foundation (CMA) organised  THE PEAK NANDAGHUNTI(6309M) under the leadership of SUMAN GUHA on AUG SEPT 2010. Climbing leader was SUJOY MONDAL.INDIA (O9477150743). The rout was JOSHIMATH - SUBAIN village TRANJIT1,T-2, T3 , BC CAMP1 - CAMP2 - SUMMIT ATTAMPT.

ANOTHER TEAM PARBOT AVIJATRI SANGHA OF KOLKATA ALSO SCEALED THE PEAK IN MAY- JUNE 2010. LEADER WAS SHAMAL SHARKAR.
